How to use your Windows password for your screensaver password?

If you need to protect your files when you walk away from your computer, you can set up a screensaver password, which locks your computer when the screensaver is on. The screen saver password is the same password that you use when logging on to Windows.

If you don’t have a Windows password, first it is necessary to create a password for Windows .

After that you can proceed to setting a password:
1. Open
Screen Saver Settings by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, clicking Personalization, and then clicking ScreenSaver.
If you are using an older version of Windows you will click
Start, point to Settings and then click on Control Panel.
If your
Control Panel is in Category View, click the option in the task pane that says Switch to Classic View.
Double click
Display. The Display Properties dialog box will open.
2. Click on the
ScreenSaver tab. Under ScreenSaver, click on your choice of screen saver.
3. Select the
On resume, Password Protection or On resume, Display Welcome Screen, require logon check box, set a time after which to start the screen saver, and then click Apply and OK. (Choose a wait time that’s not long enough for an unauthorized person to use your computer, but not so short that if you are idle for a moment, the screen saver locks your computer.)
